What is Sertafine?
Sertafine, containing Sertraline as its active ingredient, is a widely used SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) antidepressant. It’s primarily utilized for treating depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic attacks, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Sertraline works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain to help improve mood and emotional stability.
Common side effects of Sertafine include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, loss of appetite, fatigue, insomnia, and sexual dysfunction. More severe side effects, though rare, can include blurred vision, irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, fainting, and seizures.
Sertafine should not be taken alongside MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping such treatment. Caution is needed for patients with a history of seizures, bipolar disorder, liver disease, bleeding disorders, or those at risk of low sodium levels.
